Immigrant Students Fight Their Fears To Stay In School

Immigration has taken center stage in both national and local politics. So when writing a back to school story, I decided to focus on this population. Students wanted to tell their stories but didn't want to go on the record. In the end, I finally found students brave enough to talk. What I heard was how national rhetoric had taken an emotional toll on these teens, some didn't want to return to school, and one even tried to commit suicide because of their fears.
